A wire applied to two or more teeth through fixed attachments (usually brackets) to cause or guide orthodontic tooth movement (a.k.a. that metal wire that connects everything on your teeth together).
A thin metal ring, usually stainless steel, which serves to secure orthodontic attachments to a tooth. The band, with orthodontic attachments welded or soldered to it, is closely adapted to fit the contours of the tooth and them cemented into place. This is not permanent; it is removed at the end of treatment.
A small metal, ceramic, or plastic attachment that is bonded to the tooth in order to hold the archwire in place.
The gum tissue that surrounds the teeth, otherwise know as your “gums.”
A tie used to secure individual teeth to an orthodontic archwire, typically made of wire or elastic material.
